Delores Project New Intake Procedure
After gathering some feedback from our shelter guests, we have decided to make some changes to our procedure for offering beds to community members on Mondays.
As a brief overview, the bed-fill procedure that we have been using for the last several years has required potential guests to call at 11:30am each Monday and to keep calling until they get through to get a bed. With the new procedure, guests who are staying with us on Monday mornings will put their name on a paper lottery and those not staying with us will call between 8:30am-9:30am to place their name on the lottery. New guests will continue to call at 10am. An electronic lottery will be completed by our staff at 10:30am and people can call back between 11am-noon to find out if they got a bed for the week. People can still call every night at 5:30pm, at which time we will give away any beds that remain open.
Our new procedure will start on Monday 9/9. Please spread this information to your clients and colleagues and anyone who might be in need of shelter.
