Welcome to the Team Adam!

Hello! My name is Adam Starker. I am excited to join MDHI as the organization’s new HMIS Business Analyst.

I was born and raised in Wheat Ridge, just outside of Denver. I have called this city home my whole life, and I am excited to take a more active role in the local community while we work on solving homelessness. I graduated from Lakewood High School, and went on to earn my BA in Anthropology from the University of Colorado Denver.

I initially became involved in homeless services in college, beginning with volunteering and interning at the Harm Reduction Action Center, and working for the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless in various roles for four and a half years before transitioning to MDHI. Beginning at the health center’s front desk, I moved on to Medicaid enrollment and desktop support before joining the data team as an applications specialist. I am so grateful to have had the experience of hearing the stories and struggles of people experiencing homelessness, and working towards providing affordable and secure housing for all.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading classics, world mythology, nonfiction, and social science during nearly every waking minute; hiking all over the mountains and foothills on the weekends; working on my computers and technology setups; and playing video games. My family is very important to me: on any given Sunday around lunchtime, you will find my parents, brother, and myself at our family’s restaurant, West 29th Restaurant and Bar, enjoying some eggs and coffee and catching up.

In my new role with MDHI, I will be working primarily with the annual Point in Time count, bringing my data expertise to the agency to help make those numbers as accurate and informative as possible. I will also work closely with the HMIS team on various other projects related to improving and streamlining that system.

I look forward to continuing to serve the Denver community, and hope to interact with many of you as we work together towards ending homelessness. You can reach me at adam.starker@mdhi.org. Cheers!
